Original Passport

When relocating to Kenya, you must have your original passport as it’s a proof of identity. A passport utilized for the last 2 years is also needed; they are stamped for entry and exit by the customs officials to confirm the compliance of the regulation.

Original Bill of Lading (OBL)/ Air Waybill (AWB)

Moving your goods from domestic country to Kenya, you are required to submit Original Bill of Lading (OBL). This bill is an agreement of carriage that takes place between you and supplier. It holds importance as it helps to confirm the carrier’s receipt. To facilitate a smooth transfer of bulk freight of commercial goods, you must have OBL.

Form C-18 Declaration, signed by shipper (Baggage Claim form)

The shipper of any unaccompanied baggage must make a detailed and correct declaration on this form C-18 Declaration of the unaccompanied baggage and the possessions contained therein. Packing lists and relevant invoices should be prepared to facilitate clearance.

Original Work Permit

Expatriates must get a work permit to move to Kenya and get an employment in companies. You must know that expatriates don’t need to be in Kenya to submit their work permit application but they must be present in the country to get the passport endorsed with the permit.

Good and personal effects must be imported within 90 days from the work permit approval.

Detailed Packing List

This form should be approved by the Ministry of Foreign affairs for importing alcohol
